Are You Ready?

One spends one’s entire life dissatisfied with one thing or another. Then, there is death. Is this the only track available?
Pleasure is distraction; pain is distraction. When you are not distracted in the pursuit of pleasure and the avoidance of pain, where are you?
The first thought “I am” is the ego seed which develops into “I am this”. This further deteriorates into “I have this” and “I did this”. The result is an I/me-apart, an integrated singularity of self.
It is a type of toxemia, the accumulation of mental toxins that manifests as a denial of the primacy of the Self, the Conscious Life Energy.
The end of imagining is the end of “you”; are you prepared for that?

The struggle you suggest. Is it not a conditioned response to all the mind control metted out by one’s chosen church?
So, the struggle is not as simple as I am unhappy then I die. Its more of how do I overcome the issue of going against the tide in an attempt to fit in? Because once your views challange anothers the true struggle begins. No one wants to question their own beliefs. They prefer to stand pat. The ego is seen in those moments when long held beliefs ingrained are held to the fire. You suggest that to question and desire change is nothing more then the ego at work. I disagree.

    Hi Brian:

I don’t see it as trying to undo any church’s mind control. Nor am I suggesting that, at its core, it’s about fitting in, although there is clear evidence of hardwiring for that in us.
I hold steadfast to my claim that the desire for change is the ego’s work. The organism has few needs. All desire is want and want is ego-based.
The way questioning usually starts is that there is a recognition of a disturbance, some sensation that motivates one to go to a teacher, or read a book about philosophy, or pursue a different belief system. The disturbance is treated as a cause; it is not taken to be only a symptom of something greater. Few set out to determine the source and are happy to deal with the immediate issue.
Many people find themselves in meetings or satsangs. So many of these commercial satsangs, where money is exchanged for “something(?)”, should come with warnings like they put on packs of cigarettes:

Warning: Continued attendance will result in the illusion of progress.

Exclusive use of the intellect in these matters can never take you to that which is antecedent to it. This is why approaching the Self from the standpoint of the intellect sets up a result that can only be partial.
I have often said that intellectual understanding is not enough. However, there are those who seemingly cannot go farther. To them I say “Establish Self-sovereignty within yourself. Make yourself an expression of your intellectual understanding and see if anything else is needed”.

    Take care

    Roy,
isn’t the power to experience or understand ‘anything’ coming from the Conscious Life Energy?
what is tricky is the use of language which by its nature is deceiving.
Intellect is part of mind , mind is a movement of thoughts and imagery and
since thought or mind has no power to experience, there is no such thing as intellectual understanding. Is it that this aware Essence has been identifying with thought/intellect/mind limiting itself to the person and then tries to seek liberation from this limitation by chasing its own tail. This unknowable Self is functioning through the body-mind -organism ,
when an understanding arises is it a ‘Self-remembering of its sovereignty ?
    As I inquiry , I’m asking for discernment :
Is it the Conscious Life energy using thought as a way to express truth or
is it thought /intellect using the power of Life’s energy to keep the illusion powerful ?

    Thanks for your work,
It is a Joy to listen to WU Hsin ,

      Hi Natal:

The Mind is the voice of the CLE. The content of Mind that your brain receives constitutes your mind.
The intellect is an epiphenomenon of the brain and the self reference is an epiphenomenon of the intellect.
Hope that serves to clear things up.

Ok i see in myself there is a Big mind like a canvas-and a little mind like a brush. the brush makes all these messy strokes onto the canvas and calls it living and thinking about living-but the canvas can be wiped clean and just remains the same. It is impassive, impartial. I have been wrestling with the question of who or what I am-and can’t seem to find anything except that canvas to rely on. (since I see that the brush strokes come and go) it’s hard to maintain the canvas and not simply see what the brush does.
thanks for your words and teachings.

What you are is attention without terminus, a center of perception to which the screen and its contents present themselves. Impersonal and impartial, what can matter to you?

    Dear Roy,
Thank you. All that is there, seems to be just the experience of the moment. They are just occurring. The thoughts are also just occurring. The sense of ‘I’ is also exactly that – just sense that is just occurring. But is that it? What more? There does seems to be a knowing of the experience. But only the intellect seems to be wanting to appropriate this knowing rather than the knowing abiding in itself

      Hi Anton:

It is that ‘I’ that is experiencing and is knowing the experience. Only the self-process wants to appropriate both.

This ‘I’ or the awareness that is knowing the experience and the experience itself, are they different are one and the same? I think you are going to say that they are the same. How does one manifest that recognition ?

          Anton:

There is simply Experiencing. The experienced is one part of it. The other part is the experiencer, the instrument through which Experiencing occurs.

One doesn’t manifest that recognition; the recognition just manifests.

All that remains to be done, dear Rakesh, is to investigate the ‘I’ that is ready for the end of me. Is it the same as ‘me’ or is it something different?
