You, as Creator

Hello Roy: if I am the creator of my world, why can’t I re-create it?

In fact, you can.

Because What-Is is ineffable, the mind cannot think about it. Its fallback position, so to speak, is to therefore think about this world of temporal, transient, appearances. The world is only the ocean of the mind, revealed in consciousness. Relinquish all preoccupation with what was, or shall be. All one must know, is What-Is.

We create our world, populate it with friends and enemies, and then experience an ever-changing stream of psycho-physiological events. As it is impossible for me to know what it is like to be another person, it is equally impossible for me to comprehend another person’s world.

You have made your world; now, you can re-make it.

Just change your point of view; you’ll be amazed at what ensues.

Re-making Your World

Hello Roy: if I am the creator of my world, why can’t I re-create it?

In fact, you can.

Because What-Is is ineffable, the mind cannot think about it. Its fallback position, so to speak, is to therefore think about this world of temporal, transient, appearances. We create our world, populate it with friends and enemies, and then experience an ever-changing stream of psycho-physiological events. As it is impossible for me to know what it is like to be another person, it is equally impossible for me to fully comprehend another person’s world.

You have made your world; now, you can re-make it. All you need to do is change your point of view; you’ll be amazed at the changes that ensue.

Sustaining the I-Thought

About one quarter of our lives is spent in a hibernative state. Body consciousness and many brain functions go offline and the body is sustained in a maintenance mode, so to speak. Science calls it dreamless or deep sleep. It continues until such time as a change in neurochemistry prompts awakening.

Then, I-am and the world arise together.

I believed that I am this body because it was repeatedly pointed out to me, over and over, until it became a part of my reality. This is called established proof by assertion.

Much of what I believed to be “I” and “me” was acquired in this fashion. This I-thought is the essence of individuality. It is sustained by attaching it to phenomena: my thoughts, I eat, etc.

Hypnosis?

Roy, I’ve read that the world that we experience is the product of some sort of hypnosis. Would you comment on that?

If you put an individual into an empty room and by subjective means reproduce all of the sensations that go with a particular object, he will have the complete experience of that object.

That’s what hypnotists do, they induce in a subject states which do not at all correspond to conditions experienced by witnessing bystanders.

A subject may be told that he is in the midst of a jungle and the subject will not only experience the jungle, but he will proceed to act with respect to it in the same way he would if he really were in such a setting in the ordinary sense.

From this, one can conclude that the perceptive field does not depend upon a correspondent externality. The world perceived by the subject can have as its antecedent merely the idea which existed in his/her mind.

As such, can we be sure that the world we perceive is qualitatively different from that experienced by the hypnotized subject? Can we, at the least, admit the possibility that there is no difference between the two?
